Doesn’t everyone dream of an undefeated season in any sporting activity or just anything at all? Well, the Middlesboro High School Academic Team made it happen! The junior varsity team went 12-0 in the regular season, and the varsity team went 24-0. This is great, but that isn’t enough to stop them. Next, they go to the Southeast Kentucky Academic League and win it.

They are the 2018 51st district champions, 2018 13th region champions. These are the players to make the perfect season come true for the varsity team: Dylan Slaven, Siara Minton, Tyler Brush, Robby Griffey, Bushakka Kumara, Danny Lin, Timothy Perkins, and Andrew Kelley.  These are the students on the junior varsity team: Andrew Kelley, Nate Muncy, Brayden Ausmus, Gerard Nagle, and Collier Elkins.

This team made a historic run this season. This makes five years in a row for the District Title and four years in a row for the Regional Championship.

“There isn’t much to say other than we deserved it,” said Robby Griffey.

Dylan Slaven commented that “a team is only as good as its foundation. This being said, we couldn’t be the team we are without the spectacular leadership of our coaches who constantly push us to strive for perfection.”
