Don’t you just love Friday nights? Well, I enjoy going to Bradner Stadium every Friday to support my high school football team. I will also be talking about the past few years for the Yellow Jackets football team.

The Middlesboro Yellow Jackets have been hoping for a better season after the past four years of only 1 win. This year has been more than just that. Everyone knows that The Yellow Jackets and The Bobcats are huge rivals. This year was no different; the Yellow Jackets football team and all the fans were just as ready as they had ever been. We thought for sure we were going to win.

Then all of a sudden on the first play of the first game, our starting linebacker Rhyan Rogers had an unexpected season injury. Although this was rough, we were fighting through it until we then lost our starting quarterback Anthony Jackson. Then, our starting safety/running back. This played a huge role on the outcome of our season. These injuries were very devastating to our team and they did well trying to fight through without these key players and getting backup players to where they should be. However, this was too hard and took a little more time than expected. We are definitely proud of our Jackets for such a huge heart and dedication the the game.

Now, aside from all the injuries we had on the team, they were still able to do some great things. We were still able to pull off a huge win against the Harlan Green Dragons. After this hard earned win, The Yellow Jackets move on to play The Pineville Mountain lions. The football team saw this as another easy chance to get a good win. Going into this game, The Yellow Jackets only had one win, and hadn’t had much success on offense. Michael Carroll saw this as an opportunity to change things, and he definitely did. With over 300+ rushing yards and 5 touchdowns from this impressive senior he was only a few touchdowns away from a team record. This was definitely a great game for him and the rest of the team.

This season definitely showed improvement and a lot of young men showing off their talents. Although there are a few things that we could’ve done differently, I, along with many others I am sure, are very impressed with the outstanding performance from the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets.
